QuitWin: Addiction Tracker Privacy Policy

QuitWin keeps your recovery data — the habit you're quitting, check-ins, journal entries, urges and relapses — on your device only, in a database with no account, server or cloud sync behind it. QuitWin is free and shows one banner ad served by Google AdMob, which never receives any of your recovery data. Settings offers a Google Drive backup option, but it does not currently work in this release — no data is uploaded to Google Drive through it; a local, user-controlled backup file is available instead.

Introduction

QuitWin: Addiction Tracker ("QuitWin") is a private, gamified quit-habit tracker that keeps your recovery data on your device. It is developed and maintained by Prachi, an independent developer, who you can reach any time at support@elevatedev.co.in.

This privacy policy took effect on the "last updated" date shown above (August 27, 2026). It explains, in plain language, what data the app handles, how that data is used, and — just as importantly — what the app does not do.

The short version: your recovery data — the habit you are quitting, check-ins, journal entries, logged urges and cravings, and any relapses you record — is stored only on your device and is never sent to us. There is no account and no server operated by the developer. QuitWin is free and supported by one banner ad served by Google AdMob; requesting and measuring that ad sends Google an advertising identifier and standard ad-request data, and nothing about what you're quitting, your streaks, your journal or your relapses — the ad SDK never receives your recovery data. Settings also offers a Google Drive backup option; as explained under "Google Drive Backup" below, it does not currently function in this release, so nothing is uploaded to Google Drive through it.

Data We Collect

QuitWin has no user accounts, no sign-in, no cloud database and no server operated by the developer, so Prachi has no technical means to see, access or recover your recovery data. Everything you enter — the habit you are quitting, check-ins, journal entries, logged urges and cravings, and any relapses you record — is created and stored on your device.

The habit you are quitting, and how your recovery is going, is health data under Article 9 of the GDPR. This app is built so that category of data never reaches Prachi: it is entered, stored and read entirely on your device, and the app has no network path that transmits it anywhere. See "Recovery Data & GDPR Article 9" below.

One kind of data leaves your device automatically: the advertising identifier and standard ad-request data that the Google AdMob SDK sends to Google to serve and measure the single banner ad — see "Advertising (Google AdMob)" below. That data never includes your recovery data, and the AdMob SDK has no access to what you're quitting, your streaks, your journal, your urges or your relapses.

Settings also offers a "Connect Google Drive" backup option and a local "Save backup file" export. The local export is a real, working feature — see "Backups & Exports" below. The Google Drive option does not currently function in this release; see "Google Drive Backup" below for exactly why, and what would change if it is ever activated.

Data We Access & Store on Your Device

To do its job, QuitWin stores the following information locally, in the app's private storage on your device. This data stays on the device ONLY — it is never uploaded, transmitted, sold or shared:

  • The habit you choose to quit — built-in or custom — with its start date and settings such as daily cost.
  • Check-ins, streaks and derived figures like sober time, money saved and health-recovery progress, computed on-device.
  • Journal entries, logged urges and cravings, and any relapses you record.
  • XP, levels, trophies, phoenix companion state, and your reminder, app-lock and discreet-mode preferences.
  • If you set an app-lock PIN, its salted PBKDF2 hash — never the PIN itself, and never included in any backup.

Data Categories (Google Play Data Safety)

In the categories used by Google Play's Data Safety section, the information QuitWin handles falls under:

  • Health & wellbeing information (special category / sensitive health data) — the habit you are quitting, check-ins, streaks, journal entries, logged urges and cravings, and any relapses you record — stored on-device only.
  • App activity & settings (XP, levels, trophies, phoenix companion state, and your reminder, app-lock and discreet-mode preferences) — stored on-device only.
  • Device or other IDs (the Android Advertising ID) — processed by Google AdMob solely to serve and measure the banner ad, as described under Advertising (Google AdMob). AdMob never receives your recovery data.
  • Your recovery data (the first two categories below) is stored on-device only and is never "collected" or "shared" with the developer in the Play Data Safety sense. The advertising category is collected and processed by Google AdMob solely to serve and measure the banner ad, and never includes your recovery data.

How Your Data Is Used

The data above is used only inside the app, on your device, to provide the features you asked for. It is never used for advertising, profiling, marketing, "improving our services" or any purpose beyond these:

  • To track your sober time, money saved and health-recovery progress, computed entirely on your device.
  • To power check-ins, journaling, urge and craving tools, XP, levels, trophies and your phoenix companion, entirely on your device.
  • To send optional milestone and motivation reminders, only if you enable notifications.
  • To verify your PIN or biometric unlock for the optional app lock, and to switch the home-screen icon to the neutral "Notes" identity in discreet mode — both checked and applied entirely on your device.
  • To request and display the single banner ad that funds the app, via Google AdMob.

Data Sharing & Selling

Prachi does not share, sell, rent, trade or disclose your recovery data. It cannot: what you're quitting, your check-ins, your journal, your urges and your relapses never reach the developer, so there is nothing to share, and nothing is ever used to build a profile of your addiction or shared with any advertiser.

Two things leave the app. The advertising identifier and ad-request data the Google AdMob SDK sends to Google, described in full under "Advertising (Google AdMob)" — this never includes your recovery data. And a backup file, if you choose to export one yourself through "Save backup file" — written only to the location you pick, and never uploaded by the developer. The Google Drive backup option in Settings does not currently upload anything, because it does not function in this release — see "Google Drive Backup" below.

Third-Party Services

QuitWin integrates two third-party services, both from Google: Google AdMob, which serves the single banner ad described under "Advertising (Google AdMob)", and Google Play In-App Review, used only to show the rating prompt inside the app and which receives nothing about your recovery data. The app also contains code for an optional Google Drive backup, described under "Google Drive Backup" below, which does not currently function. There are no other third-party services — no analytics providers, no crash-reporting services, no cloud databases and no other SDK that receives data from this app.

QuitWin has no in-app purchase of any kind. No Google Play Billing code exists in the app, no purchase screen or Premium tier is reachable anywhere in it, and no payment is ever processed or stored by anyone.

If you install the app from Google Play, Google's own terms and privacy policy govern the store itself (downloads, payments and reviews), independently of this app.

Permissions & Why We Ask

QuitWin may request the following Android permissions, and only for the reasons stated. Denying an optional permission never locks you out of the rest of the app:

  • Notifications (optional) — only if you enable milestone or motivation reminders. You can use the entire app without notifications.
  • Run at startup — re-registers your milestone reminders after the device reboots. No recovery data is involved.
  • Exact alarms — so a milestone reminder fires at the precise time it's due, not whenever the system gets around to it. If not granted, milestone alarms degrade to an approximate time instead of failing.
  • Biometrics (optional) — for the optional app lock, which you switch on in Settings. Android verifies your fingerprint or face itself — the app never sees biometric data. A PIN is offered as an alternative and is stored only as a salted PBKDF2 hash.
  • Internet — used for two features described in this policy: requesting and measuring the single banner ad from Google AdMob, and the Google Drive backup option in Settings, which does not currently function in this release (see "Google Drive Backup" below). Your recovery data is never transmitted to the developer through either.

Analytics, Advertising & Tracking

QuitWin contains no analytics SDKs, no crash-reporting services that upload data, and no third-party tracker other than the single advertising SDK it discloses: Google AdMob, covered in detail under "Advertising (Google AdMob)" below. We do not profile you, fingerprint your device, or measure your behaviour, and your recovery data — what you're quitting, your journal, your check-ins, your urges, your relapses — is never used for advertising and never shared with the ad SDK. No profile of your addiction or recovery is built by AdMob, by Prachi, or by anyone else.

QuitWin is free and shows one banner ad served by Google AdMob to every user; there is no paid ad-free tier. If you are in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, QuitWin shows a consent form built on Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) before the first ad request, and you can revisit that choice at any time from "Ad privacy & consent" in Settings.

Data Security

Your recovery data is held in QuitWin's private app storage, which Android sandboxes from every other app on the device. It is never synced to any server of ours, so there is no developer-side copy to breach. The optional app lock checks your fingerprint, face or a PIN before the app opens: biometrics are verified entirely by Android's own biometric system, so the app never sees your biometric data, and a PIN is stored as a salted PBKDF2-HMAC-SHA256 hash (120,000 iterations), never in plain text; PIN credentials are excluded from every backup. Discreet mode, if you turn it on, swaps the home-screen icon and name for a neutral "Notes" identity — the app underneath, and its data, are unchanged. The only data this app sends over the network is the advertising data described under "Advertising (Google AdMob)", which travels to Google over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection and never includes your recovery data; the Google Drive backup option does not currently transmit anything, because it does not function in this release.

We do not claim a specific security certification such as ISO 27001, and we do not run a formal penetration-testing or third-party security-audit programme.

The local backup file produced by "Save backup file" is deliberately unencrypted, human-readable JSON — the in-app backup screen tells you this and asks you to store the file somewhere private; treat it like any other sensitive personal document.

For an extra layer of protection we recommend using your device's screen lock (PIN, pattern or biometrics), which also protects everything inside the app, and keeping Android's full-disk encryption enabled (it is on by default on modern devices).

Backups & Exports

The "Save backup file" option in Settings produces a complete JSON snapshot of your recovery data — habits, check-ins, journal entries, urges, relapses, XP, trophies and preferences — and writes it only to the location you choose via Android's file picker. It is created only when you ask, and is never uploaded by the developer. This file is deliberately unencrypted, human-readable JSON, so store it somewhere private; if you copy it to a cloud drive yourself, that storage provider's policy applies to the copy you made.

The "Connect Google Drive" option in Settings does not currently function — see "Google Drive Backup" below.

Standard Android device backups (if you have them enabled in system settings) are not used: QuitWin's manifest sets android:allowBackup to false specifically so Android's own automatic cloud backup never makes an extra, unscoped copy of your recovery data.

Data Retention & Deletion

Your recovery data is retained on your device only for as long as you choose to keep it. There is no server-side copy, so there is nothing for the developer to retain, expire or delete on any timetable — deleting it on your device is the only deletion event there is.

Deleting your data is entirely in your hands, at any time and without asking anyone:

  • Delete individual entries — habits, check-ins, journal entries, urges, relapses — inside the app whenever you like.
  • Clear the app's data from Android Settings → Apps → QuitWin → Storage, which wipes everything the app stored, including any local backup file you saved inside the app's own storage.
  • Uninstall the app — everything it stored in private storage is removed from the device along with it. A backup file you exported to a folder you chose yourself is unaffected and stays where you put it, under your control.
  • The Google Drive backup option does not currently upload anything, so there is no copy in Google Drive to delete. If it is ever activated in a future release, this policy will describe how to delete that copy, with a new date, before that version ships.
  • Data processed by Google AdMob is held by Google under Google's own privacy policy; you can reset or delete your Advertising ID at any time in Android Settings → Privacy → Ads.

Children's Privacy

QuitWin is not directed at children under 13 — it deals with quitting habits such as smoking, alcohol, drugs and gambling, which are adult topics — and Prachi does not knowingly collect personal data from a child through the app: no recovery data reaches the developer from any user, child or adult. The app has no chat, no social features and no user-to-user content of any kind.

European Economic Area: under Article 8 GDPR, the age at which a child can give their own consent to an information-society service, rather than needing a parent or guardian to consent, is set by each EU member state and ranges from 13 to 16 — there is no single European age. QuitWin does not rely on the app user's consent for anything except the advertising choice described under "Advertising Consent & Choices" and the on-device processing of recovery data you enter yourself, so this state-by-state variation does not change how the app is built or operated.

United Kingdom: the age of consent for online services is 13. The app's design is also consistent with the ICO's Age Appropriate Design Code (the Children's Code) even though the app is not aimed at children and does not fall within a children's category on Google Play: it collects no more data than the ad SDK needs to function, builds no profile of any user by default, and shows the same consent and ad-privacy controls to every user who has not consented to personalised ads, regardless of age.

United States: QuitWin is a general-audience recovery and habit-tracking app aimed at adults. Its subject matter, content and marketing are not directed at children, and Prachi does not have actual knowledge that any user is a child under 13. Under the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), that combination means the app is not treated as "child-directed", so COPPA's parental-consent requirement for collecting a child's personal information does not apply to it. Separately, the app collects no personal information from any user in the first place, child or adult, because recovery data never reaches the developer.

On Google Play, QuitWin is submitted with a content rating and Ads declaration reflecting an app about quitting smoking, alcohol, drugs and gambling, and does not participate in Google Play's Designed for Families program. Google applies its own Families Policy restrictions to the advertising and SDK behaviour it permits based on that rating.

If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child has used the app, deleting the app's data or uninstalling it removes everything the app holds on the device, and resetting the Advertising ID in Android Settings → Privacy → Ads severs the advertising identifier tied to that device.

Your Rights

Privacy laws around the world — the GDPR and UK GDPR, the CCPA as amended by the CPRA, India's DPDP Act and others — give you rights over your personal data. For your recovery data the answer is simple, because it never leaves your device and elevatedevco never receives it. For the advertising data Google collects, the rights below apply in the ordinary way.

  • Access (GDPR Art. 15) — open the app; everything it holds about your habit, check-ins, journal, urges and relapses is visible there, on your device. We hold none of it to give you.
  • Correction (GDPR Art. 16) — edit or replace any entry directly in the app.
  • Erasure (GDPR Art. 17) — delete entries in the app, clear the app's data, or uninstall. For advertising data held by Google, reset or delete your Advertising ID in Android Settings → Privacy → Ads.
  • Portability (GDPR Art. 20) — your recovery data is created and held on your device, never by us, so you already hold it yourself; use "Save backup file" in Settings for a copy in a standard JSON format.
  • Restriction of processing (GDPR Art. 18) — email us and we will act on any request about the advertising data described in this policy.
  • Objection (GDPR Art. 21) — the app shows personalised ads where you consent, and personalised advertising is profiling under the GDPR. You have an unconditional right to object to it: decline or withdraw consent from "Ad privacy & consent" in Settings, or turn on "Opt out of Ads Personalisation" in Android Settings. This means non-personalised ads instead of no ads, since there is no ad-free option today.
  • Withdraw consent (GDPR Art. 7(3)) — where advertising relies on your consent, withdraw it at any time from "Ad privacy & consent" in Settings, as easily as you gave it. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before you withdrew.
  • Rights related to automated decision-making (GDPR Art. 22) — the app makes no decision about you that produces legal or similarly significant effects; trophy, level and ad selection are not this kind of decision.
  • Complaint (GDPR Art. 77) — see "How Do I Lodge a Complaint?" below.

Who Is the Data Controller?

QuitWin: Addiction Tracker is developed by Prachi and published by elevatedevco, and is distributed on Google Play under the Android package com.elevatedev.quitwin.

For the advertising data this app involves, elevatedevco is the data controller within the meaning of the GDPR and the UK GDPR, and the Data Fiduciary within the meaning of India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023. Google acts as an independent controller for the advertising data its SDK collects. The app has no in-app purchase, so no payment processor is involved.

elevatedevco is not a processor of your recovery data either: a processor handles personal data on a controller's behalf, and your recovery data is never sent to us to handle in the first place.

You can reach us about anything in this policy — including a request to exercise your rights, or a grievance — by email at support@elevatedev.co.in. We answer privacy requests within 30 days, and usually much sooner.

Recovery Data & GDPR Article 9

The habit you are quitting, your check-ins, journal entries, logged urges and cravings, and any relapses you record are special category data under Article 9(1) GDPR, which prohibits processing health data unless a specific exception in Article 9(2) applies. QuitWin is built so that this data is created, stored and read only on your device: it is never transmitted to elevatedevco, never shared with the Google AdMob SDK, and never used to target an ad or build any profile of your addiction or recovery.

QuitWin is a motivational and tracking tool, not medical treatment. For substance dependence or any addiction, please also seek support from a healthcare professional; the app's crisis and urge tools are coping aids, not a substitute for professional care.

Do We Use Your Recovery Data to Train AI?

No. QuitWin contains no AI model and no machine-learning model of any kind, and sends no recovery data anywhere. This is a structural fact, not a promise: there is no network path, server or account through which your recovery data could reach us, so there is nothing for the developer — or any third party — to access, analyse, review, index, or train an AI model with. The one exception to "nothing leaves the device" is the advertising data described under Advertising (Google AdMob), which never includes your recovery data.

If a future version ever added an optional AI feature that required sending data to a server, it would be off by default, need your explicit, separate consent to turn on, and this policy would be updated first, with a new date, before it shipped.

Advertising (Google AdMob)

QuitWin is free, and shows one banner ad, served by Google AdMob, to fund the app's development. Ads are shown to every user; there is no paid ad-free version. The AdMob SDK never receives your recovery data — the app does not give it access to what you're quitting, your check-ins, your journal, your urges or your relapses, and there is no code path through which any of it could reach the SDK.

To request and measure that banner ad, the AdMob SDK collects the following from your device and sends it to Google:

  • Your Android Advertising ID — an identifier you can reset or delete at any time.
  • Device and app information: device model, operating system version, app version, language, mobile network information and IP address.
  • Coarse, IP-derived location, included in the standard ad-request data above. QuitWin itself does not request any location permission.
  • Ad-interaction data: which ad was shown and whether you viewed or tapped it — used for measurement, frequency capping and fraud prevention.
  • Whether the ad shown to you is personalised depends on your consent choice: where you consent, Google selects the ad based on interests inferred from your activity across apps and sites; where you do not, the ad is selected only from context such as the current app and your approximate location. Either way, the Advertising ID is still used for frequency capping and fraud prevention. Neither kind of ad is ever selected using anything about the habit you're quitting or your recovery.
  • You can opt out of ad personalisation, and reset or delete your Advertising ID, at any time in Android Settings → Privacy → Ads.
  • How Google uses this data is described in "How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services" (policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites), in Google's privacy policy (policies.google.com/privacy) and in the Google AdMob and Google Ads policies (support.google.com/admob).
  • AdMob is the only advertising or tracking SDK in QuitWin.

Google Drive Backup

Settings includes a "Connect Google Drive" option intended to back up your data to your own Google Drive (in a private, app-only folder) so you could move to a new phone without losing your progress. In this release, this option does not function: connecting requires a one-time Google Cloud authorization for the app that has not been completed, so every attempt fails with an in-app message explaining that Google Drive backup isn't fully activated for this build yet, and nothing is uploaded to Google Drive, to Google, or to anyone else. Your recovery data stays on your device exactly as if this option were not there.

Use "Save backup file" in Settings instead — a local, working export described under "Backups & Exports" above, produced entirely on your device and written only to the location you choose.

If Google Drive backup is ever completed and activated in a future release, this policy will be updated first, with a new date, to describe exactly what would be uploaded, in what form and to whose Google Drive, before that version ships.

Where Is My Data Transferred?

Your recovery data is never transferred anywhere: the app has no server, and the Google Drive backup option does not currently function (see "Google Drive Backup" above). The only data that crosses a border is the advertising data described under Advertising (Google AdMob), which Google's ad service sends to Google and processes on Google's servers, including in the United States.

For transfers out of the EEA, Google is a certified participant in the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework; for transfers out of the UK, Google relies on the UK Extension to that framework; for transfers out of Switzerland, the Swiss-U.S. Data Privacy Framework applies. Where a transfer falls outside those frameworks, Google relies on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses. The safeguards Google applies are set out in Google's own privacy policy and its data transfer documentation at business.safety.google.

How Do I Lodge a Complaint?

If you believe your data has been handled unlawfully, please contact us first at support@elevatedev.co.in — we would rather fix a problem than have you go elsewhere with it.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, and you do not need our agreement to do so. In the EEA this is the authority in the country where you live, work, or where you believe the infringement occurred; the full list is published at edpb.europa.eu. In the UK it is the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk. In Switzerland it is the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner at edoeb.admin.ch.

A supervisory-authority complaint is not your only option. Under GDPR Article 79 (and the equivalent UK GDPR provision) you may instead, or in addition, bring your claim directly before a competent court.

United States Privacy Rights (Consumer Health Data & State Privacy Laws)

QuitWin is used across the United States, where several states now single out health-related personal data — including data about substance use and addiction recovery — for extra protection on top of general consumer-privacy law. This section explains how those laws apply to an app that keeps your recovery data on your device and never sells or shares it.

California (CCPA, as amended by the CPRA): health information is "sensitive personal information" under Cal. Civ. Code §1798.140(ae). The personal information this app is actually involved with is the advertising identifier and ad-request data described under Advertising (Google AdMob) — your recovery data is not personal information we collect, because we never receive it. Showing you a personalised ad counts as "sharing" personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising under the CCPA/CPRA, even though no money changes hands; the app does not sell personal information for money. You have the right to know, delete, correct, limit use of sensitive personal information, and opt out of that sharing — decline personalised ads in the consent prompt, or reset your Advertising ID in Android Settings → Privacy → Ads.

Washington's My Health My Data Act (RCW 19.373), in force since March 31, 2024, broadly defines "consumer health data" as data linked to a consumer's past, present or future physical or mental health status, and requires a regulated entity to obtain consumer consent before collecting or sharing it beyond what is necessary to provide a product the consumer requested, and written authorization before selling it. The only consumer health data this app collects — the habit you are quitting, your check-ins, journal, urges and relapses — is what you type in to use the tracking and recovery features you asked for, covered by that necessity exception, and the app does not share or sell consumer health data to anyone, because it never leaves your device. The app has no location feature, so the Act's geofencing restriction around health-care locations does not apply to it.

Nevada's SB 370 (in force since March 31, 2024) similarly requires prior consent before a regulated entity collects, shares or sells a consumer's health data. As with Washington, the only consumer health data this app collects is what you enter to use the features you requested, and the app does not share or sell it, because it never leaves your device.

Most other US states have now enacted a comprehensive consumer privacy law granting rights to know, access, correct, delete and obtain a copy of the personal data a business holds about you, and to opt out of targeted advertising and of "sale" or "sharing." Because your recovery data never reaches the developer and is never sold or shared, the personal data these laws reach in this app is the advertising identifier and ad-request data described under Advertising (Google AdMob). Exercise these rights by declining or withdrawing ad consent from "Ad privacy & consent" in Settings, or resetting your Advertising ID in Android Settings → Privacy → Ads.

To exercise any right on this page, or to ask a question about how a specific state law applies, email us at support@elevatedev.co.in. We will not deny you goods or services, charge you a different price, or provide a different level of quality because you exercised a privacy right.

App Names in Other Languages

On Google Play this app's store listing is localized, so the name you see depends on your device language. Every listing below describes the SAME single app -- Android package com.elevatedev.quitwin, published by elevatedevco -- and this privacy policy applies to all of them, in every language and country.

The name on your home screen after installing is QuitWin in every language; only the Play Store listing name is translated. If the store name differed from the one on your device, that is why.

Changes to This Policy

If this policy ever changes, the updated version will be published on this page with a new "last updated" date, which is also the date the changes take effect. If a future release activates Google Drive backup, or adds any other feature that transmits recovery data off your device, this policy will describe exactly what changed here, with a new date, before that version ships.

The core fact stays the same until it is disclosed otherwise here: your recovery data is created and stored on your device only, and this app has no server to send it to, and no advertising SDK that receives it.

No Warranty & Your Own Checks

This policy explains how QuitWin handles data. It is not a warranty about the app itself, and it does not make Prachi responsible for how you use it.

QuitWin is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind. Prachi is not liable for any loss you may suffer through using it — including lost data, missed reminders, lost profits or decisions you make based on what the app shows you — to the maximum extent applicable law allows. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
